Energy Boosting Green Smoothie (VG, GF)

Do you ever get that afternoon slump, when you’re really struggling to focus and you feel like you are ready for bed, even though it is only 2-3pm? This can easily happen when we are spending our days working at a desk. The human body was not designed for long periods of sitting, and staring at a screen for 8+ hours a day does not help with that either. So if you find yourself crashing and wanting to reach for more coffee or something sugary, try this instead!

It’s my absolute favourite smoothie – it’s quick and easy to make, delicious and full of goodness. I like to use frozen spinach or kale as it makes the smoothie colder, but you can also use fresh if you have some lying around. The peanut butter is a great source of protein, the chia seeds and flaxseeds are rich in healthy Omega-3 fats, antioxidants and minerals, and the spinach and banana provide many vitamins and minerals as well, so the whole thing is packed-full of nutrients.

A protein-packed green smoothie

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 2-3 rolls frozen spinach/kale
  • 300ml almond milk
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 tbsp maca powder (optional)

Directions

  1. Break the banana into smaller pieces and add to a blender or nutribullet along with everything else.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Enjoy!
